Departments

Campus Planning & Facilities Design (CP&FD) provides strategic leadership for the development, design, and stewardship of the built environment. The department guides long-range planning, implements campus planning policies, and supports institutional decisions through space analysis and management. CP&FD also collaborates with stakeholders to deliver capital projects while overseeing engineering, infrastructure, and energy management to ensure efficient, resilient, and sustainable campus operations.

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) supports the RPI community with technical and practical guidance on occupational, laboratory, environmental, health and safety topics. EHS delivers training, provides resources, offers consultation, and conducts inspections to help departments, centers and schools manage compliance and safety in their areas. 

Environmental & Site Services (E&SS) supports the care and daily operation of campus buildings and grounds through custodial services, moving support, landscape and grounds maintenance, athletic field maintenance, pest management, and snow and ice removal. The department works collaboratively with the campus community to maintain clean, functional, and welcoming spaces.

Physical Plant supports the operation and reliability of campus facilities by managing the maintenance and repair of building systems and infrastructure. The department oversees day-to-day operations, renewal and renovation work, and long-term planning to sustain campus assets. Physical Plant also operates the Facilities Customer Service Center, providing centralized work order management, dispatching, and responsive communication to address maintenance requests and building concerns.
